This week’s Newsletter is brought to you by Peninsula Run Co.

Last weekend was one for the books. Mud, Sweat & Beers brought nearly 1,000 riders to Mt. Holiday (shout out to everyone who finished the muddy chute upright). The Fresh Coast Film Festival took over seven venues across town and absolutely delivered. The Sara Hardy Farmers Market opened for the season Saturday morning. And the Kentucky Derby party at Seven Hills had mint juleps flowing on the lawn while Jeff Linsell played live up the road at Chateau Grand Traverse. If you missed any of it, don't worry. That's what we're here for.

Here's what's coming this week.

🍷 Traverse City Uncorked | Now through May 10
This is the big one for wine lovers. Traverse City Uncorked is a 10-day celebration of the region's wine scene with a free digital passport, special tastings, and deals at wineries across both peninsulas. Check in at five or more wineries and pick up a pair of Uncorked socks at the Traverse City Tourism Welcome Center. Each day has a different theme: Flagship Friday, Sparkling Saturday, Rosé Sunday, and more. Over 30 wineries are participating with complimentary tastings and bottle discounts. Download the passport at traversecity.com/traverse-city-uncorked.

🏃 Traverse City Trail Running Festival | Friday–Saturday, May 8–9
If you run trails, this is your weekend. The TC Trail Running Festival takes over the Pere Marquette Forest with a 5K and 10K relay on Friday evening, then a full slate on Saturday: 10K, 25K, 50K, 75K, and 100K options through some of the best singletrack in Northern Michigan. All races start and finish at Timber Ridge. Post-race hangs with snacks, beverages, and fire pits. Register at the event website.

🍄 Mesick Mushroom Festival | May 8–10
Morel season is here and Mesick (45 minutes south of TC) goes all in every year. Flea market, arts and crafts, live music, carnival, parade, and a mushroom contest where the biggest morel takes home $300 cash. Free admission. This is one of those only-in-Northern-Michigan weekends. If you've never hunted morels, this is your excuse to start.

🏄 Sleeping Bear Surf: Rescue Training + Surf Swap | Saturday
The crew at Sleeping Bear Surf is teaming up with the Great Lakes Surf Rescue Project for a Surf Rescue Training clinic at 10:30am at Empire Beach. Learn how to handle rip currents, assist other surfers, and stay safe in the Great Lakes. Then head back to the shop from 1-3pm for the Surf Swap. Bring your boards and gear to sell or trade, skateboards to shred, and suits to keep you cozy. If you've been sitting on equipment you don't use, this is how you pass it on to someone who will. More on their IG.

🌿 Ramp Harvest with Farmer Glenn + Bites from Umbo | Saturday
This is one of those only-in-Northern-Michigan events. Head to The Foxglove Farm on the Leelanau Peninsula to harvest ramps (the fleeting, garlicky spring wild leek that every chef in town goes nuts for) with farmer Glenn Barnes, then enjoy ramp-focused bites from the teams at Umbo and Foxglove Farm. $30 for adults, kids are free. If you've never foraged ramps, this is the perfect introduction with two of the best culinary minds in the region cooking what you just pulled out of the ground.
